Your rights and obligations
When you are looking for work, you can get help and support from us depending on your needs. If you apply for or are receiving benefit while you are enrolled at Arbetsförmedlingen, you must actively look for work. You must also follow the plan that we have agreed on.
What we can do for you
- Advice, tips and digital services on the site that can be helpful on the journey to employment or education.
- Personal support of an employment officer by phone, chat, or a booked meeting. For example, we can help you with planning, reviewing your skills, and what the labour market looks like. Advice on how to choose a profession and find employment.
- Give extra support if you have a disability, diagnosis, illness or some type of difficulty.
- Additional support such as vocational training, validation, practical training, vocational courses and preparatory courses for further studies.
- The opportunity to step into or back into work, while the employer receives contributions to your salary.
- Intensive and customised support by a supervisor from one of our suppliers.
- When you are registered with us, you can apply for compensation from an unemployment insurance fund or receive compensation when you participate in a programme.
What you need to do
- Together with us, plan how you are going to look for work.
- Be an active job-seeker. This could be applying for advertised positions and/or jobs that Arbetsförmedlingen has suggested to you or instructed you to apply for. You can also contact potential employers yourself, expressing your interest in working for them, or send them your CV.
- Submit an activity report to us every month.
- Take part in booked meetings or notify us if you cannot take part for some reason. The same applies if you have booked meetings with one of our suppliers.
- You must be available if we have agreed on a time for a telephone meeting.
- Apply for jobs and courses that we instruct you to apply for.
- Accept any appropriate job and/or labour market policy programme/additional support.
- Accept a training course that you have been admitted to and that we have instructed you to apply for.
- If you participate in a programme and receive activity support, introduction benefit or development allowance and are unable to participate in planned activities, you must report your absence to Arbetsförmedlingen.
- Be able to show that you have applied for the jobs that you have reported in your activity report, if we ask you to do so.
- Notify us if you change your contact details, such as address, email, or phone number. Letters from Arbetsförmedlingen will normally be sent to your registered address.
- Submit correct information to your unemployment benefit office (a-kassa) and/or Försäkringskassan.
What happens if you do not do what you are supposed to?
If you neglect your job-seeking, prolong or cause your unemployment, you may be issued a warning or lose your compensation for one or more days.
